Events in Bosa

In addition to its beaches and history, Bosa is also the focus of three fascinating festivals

The Feast of Our Lady of Regnos Altos

The Feast of Our Lady of Regnos Altos dates back to 1847 when a child found a statue of the Madonna among the ruins of the castle. The festival falls on the Saturday and Sunday of the second week of September and is certainly one of Bosa’s most anticipated events, not only for the religious aspect but also for the purely festive one.

Feast of Santa Maria del Mare

The Feast of Santa Maria del Mare is celebrated on the first Sunday of August. It is an evocative procession of boats decorated with colourful flags, reeds and flowers that accompanies the Madonna along the river Temo. The image of the fishing boats of Bosa decorated for the festival is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and fascinating that you can take home with you.

Bosa Carnival

The Bosa Carnival is certainly one of the most awaited events. Called “Carrasegare Osincu”, it differs considerably from other more serious and tragic events on the island; in fact it is just as fascinating, but it is above all fun. The Bosa Carnival is characterised by spontaneous and unorganised celebration; although there are groups that manage certain moments of the festival (such as dances), the rest is left to improvisation.
